(Mention of Arctic Air, BSG, Sanctuary, and SG1. Possible spoilers.)
- Before Ellen Tigh died on Caprica she and Saul had a daughter Carolyn. When Kara discovered Earth, Carolyn was with her. When Kara returned to Galactica she accidently left Carolyn behind. Carolyn took a job as a doctor at the SGC hoping someone would come in contact with the Galactica.
- When Kara discovers Earth she stops off and has a kid with (a much younger) Mel Iverson. Krista is her daughter. This explains the awesome sense of humor and the kickass flying.
- When Galactica discovers Earth, Saul drinks himself into oblivion (in celebration) and wakes up in Yellowknife thinking he’s a doctor.
- Mel Iverson and Bobby’s father see Kara’s crash landing on the beach beside where Arctic Air is at present. It’s what inspired them to start the airline in the first place.
- It’s also why Mel still insists all the float planes come detailed with red stripes. It may cost extra but it’s a necessary homage to Kara.
- Bobby’s parents didn’t fly off and crash land; they joined Kara on her flight back to the Galactica.
- Krista’s a cylon. It’s really the only explanation for her awesomeness.
- The seventh cylon model does exist; it’s Carolyn Lam, who’s already found Earth. Too bad her communication device is broken and she can’t tell the other cylons where Earth is.
- Mel’s not indestructible, he’s a cylon. He really will be around for the apocalypse.
- Magnus was the original silent investor in Arctic Air. She’s been obsessed with planes since they were invented and wanted to foster that love in someone else. She even paid for Krista to go to flight school.
- Krista’s mother died in an abnormal attack when she was eight.
- The real reason for the crash landing in Kush was because one of the engines went. Magnus had been spending too much time with Krista and insisted they should “get paid to take it for a test flight”.
- Ashley goes undercover as a Swiss pilot to scope out Arctic Air as a potential transport service for the Sanctuary. She likes the gig so much she stays on.
- Ashley’s disintegration and rematerialization were so forceful she ended up hundreds of miles north in Yellowknife where she comes to thinking she’s a pilot in training.
- After his brain was short circuited in Penance, The Duke ends up going into hiding on land he had inherited outside Yellowknife. Eventually he discovers he misses the big life and sets about trying to sell a possible diamond claim on his land.
- When Abby shows up at the Sanctuary Will almost asks her if she has a twin sister working out of Yellowknife.
- After Next Tuesday, Will makes Magnus take flying lessons. Krista is her flight instructor.
- Dev grew up wanting to be a pilot after hearing stories from his uncle Ravi about Magnus and Amelia Earhart.
- Astrid met Kate in the Skagway airport. It’s where she learned her epic pouty face.
- On her way up to Skagway, Kate meets Krista in a bar. Upon returning to Old City she’s shocked to find her doppelganger making out with Will.
- Abby and Krista were switched at birth.
- Abby meets Blake when she’s running an errand for SCIU. The two fall in love and run away together.
- Blake is Will’s second cousin twice removed; that explains why Krista has the hots for him.
- Before joining SCIU, Addison tries his hand at mineral exploration in the NWT.
- Running from angry congressmen Addison finds himself in Calgary under an assumed identity working for a resource development firm.
- Before leaving his venture capital firm, Bobby helped Magnus with her investments.
- Petra returns to Yellowknife after working for the SGC when she discovers she’s turning into her dad: always doing paperwork, checking in on her patients.
- Ever since the last foothold situation at the SGC, Carolyn has a strong aversion to hostage situations. Berguss Lake was supposed to keep her away from that.
- With SG1 scattered around the galaxy, Carolyn finds like at the SGC a little too quiet. Moving to Yellowknife isn’t going to be any less quiet but at least her Connor won’t keep getting sent home with notes asking her to please explain to him that she in fact, does not work with aliens.
- Cece is Carter’s granddad on her mother’s side. It explains their awesome mechanical inclination and ability to fix anything.
- Cece is Rodney’s uncle. Spending so much time around Mel growing up is what encouraged Rodney’s cranky pants attitude.
- Mel and Jacob Carter are half brothers. Despite Sam’s dislike of her dad and “his military’ she loved flying with her Uncle Mel. It’s eventually his frank insistence (read: berating) that convinces her to enlist, with the hope of becoming an astronaut (because we all know that’s the coolest bit of flying).
- After watching Krista’s cousin grow up and make something of herself, Bobby decides to apply to university.
