- Was there really early (this never happens)
- Signed in first on the casual log in sheet
- Got chased and hugged by four students who had been playing in the pouring rain
- Got a 'cool guy fist bump' from a student happy to see me (which I was too lame to pull off convincingly, but I gave it a shot all the same)
- Discussed autographed copies of John Green's The Fault Is In Our Stars with library kids and whether or not we got a Hanklerfish ( we didn't)
- Gave a kid a lesson on how fountain pens work
- Got asked to be the teacher advisor for the school Quidditch team (really)
- Got a belated Christmas present from a student
- Took the tinsel off my desk
- Nerded out over the production of a library blog
- Yelled at year 12 students for acting like kindergarteners
- Tried really hard not to yell at year 12 students for acting like kindergarteners
- Carried maths textbooks from the library to the store room
- Dragged a ton of kids out of the rain
- Chased down a year 12 boy who had 'borrowed' and was wearing his friend's school skirt
- Discussed geocaching with a kid who had done some of my hides over the break
- Walked through the school to a chorus of 'Miss! You're back!' - kids a very friendly when you're not actually making them work
- Told a kid I wasn't talking to her anymore cause she went on a cruise - and, naturally, she's talked about nothing else since I've said this
- Stumbled and nearly fell
- Swore revenge against the student who laughed when I stumbled (tis okay, we're always mean to each other)
- Got shanghai'd by my history club kids - starting back next week
- Scored a tutoring gig
- Fielded questions about what Alex is doing now
- Had butter chicken from the canteen for lunch - yum
- Wore a Bladerunner shirt and so had to visit the Year 12 English class for show and tell
- Told kids about the time when (as students) we locked a kid in the cupboard while the teacher was out of the room and she never noticed that he was there the whole lesson... that was probably a bad story to share.
- Tried to organise my desk
- Told Walter that I had been called to the SGC
- Remembered that each student now comes with an ipod, phone and (sometimes) laptop. Remembered how much I HATE that.
- Played a game of scattegories with a senior class because it was the only way to get them to sit down.
- Arranged a Nerdfighter badge making venture with a kid
- Discussed the merits of various gaming platforms
- Listened to a kid try to convince me that his imaginary dying grandmother would disown him if he did classwork
- Helped a kid research international law cases
- Discussed the lack of respect I have for Princess Peach
- Went to a staff meeting
- Attended a house rally/meeting for one that wasn't my own
- Lost four pens and 'acquired' one.
Guidelines for Happy Listing (and yes, it's a list)
- We will create a list every day with the number of items matching the number of the day. For example: Day 1's list will have 1 item, Day 366 's will have 366 items.
- Each day's list must be completed (but not posted) before midnight of our respective timezones.
- List topics are unrestricted and of our own design. List inspiration and appropriation is permitted. Items are not allowed to appear twice on the same list.
- Though we may not research our topic, we may ask for assistance. Research is allowed when providing context (links ect). Context should be brief and provided after the completed list.
- Once a fortnight we shall complete a mutual list, the topic of which shall be provided by you.

5. ...Oooook...
ReplyDelete7. SWEET
15. HAHAHAHA Boys
17. I find that such an awesome British/commonwealth sans US thing
24. Butter chicken!!
29. They let kids bring them to school?
33. Hahah <3
34. EPIC WIN for the becca.
38. You lost four pens in a day? how do you even do that?
5. It's a thing, just go with it lol.
Delete7. I KNOW RIGHT!
15. I gave up.
17. Really? You guys didn't have a casual you liked having?
24. Yup :)
29. *laughs* Oh Lisa, 'let' hahahahaha. No they're not supposed to have phones or ipods. They do have a laptop if they're in year 9 or above.
33. It went on for quite some time.
34. Yes, sometimes I do actual work :)
38. I work with teenagers. Dude really. You need to come to work with me.
17. We had substitutes we liked but no one yelled 'Miss! You're back!' at them in the hall.
Delete29. Well if you take them away and don't give them back...
38. Apparently I do because this statement has done nothing to clear up my confusion.
17. Ah but did you have weirdo substitutes like me?
Delete29. ... For the sake of my sanity and your apparent naivety I'm just going to smile and nod.
38. Students do NOT come with equipment for class. If you want them to work you need to bring pens, and you usually don't get them back.
7. Not quite as special as you, no.
Delete29. *g*
38. We always had to borrow from other students. Some teachers expressly wouldn't give out pens if no one had one.
7. I should probably take that as an indication of my insanity, but no, I'm going to roll with it :)
Delete38. And when the OTHER students don't have any? I usually give out pencils because they're cheaper to replace and they're less inclined to take them with them.
7. Take it as a sign of your awesome.
Delete38. Poor pencils.
