{Day 38: Rebecca} Things I did on my first day back at work

1. Was there really early (this never happens)
2. Signed in first on the casual log in sheet
3. Got chased and hugged by four students who had been playing in the pouring rain
4. Got a 'cool guy fist bump' from a student happy to see me (which I was too lame to pull off convincingly, but I gave it a shot all the same)
5. Discussed autographed copies of John Green's The Fault Is In Our Stars with library kids and whether or not we got a Hanklerfish ( we didn't)
6. Gave a kid a lesson on how fountain pens work
7. Got asked to be the teacher advisor for the school Quidditch team (really)
8. Got a belated Christmas present from a student
9. Took the tinsel off my desk
10. Nerded out over the production of a library blog
11. Yelled at year 12 students for acting like kindergarteners
12. Tried really hard not to yell at year 12 students for acting like kindergarteners
13. Carried maths textbooks from the library to the store room
14. Dragged a ton of kids out of the rain
15. Chased down a year 12 boy who had 'borrowed' and was wearing his friend's school skirt
16. Discussed geocaching with a kid who had done some of my hides over the break
17. Walked through the school to a chorus of 'Miss! You're back!' - kids a very friendly when you're not actually making them work
18. Told a kid I wasn't talking to her anymore cause she went on a cruise - and, naturally, she's talked about nothing else since I've said this
19. Stumbled and nearly fell
20. Swore revenge against the student who laughed when I stumbled (tis okay, we're always mean to each other)
21. Got shanghai'd by my history club kids - starting back next week
22. Scored a tutoring gig
23. Fielded questions about what Alex is doing now
24. Had butter chicken from the canteen for lunch - yum
25. Wore a Bladerunner shirt  and so had to visit the Year 12 English class for show and tell
26. Told kids about the time when (as students) we locked a kid in the cupboard while the teacher was out of the room and she never noticed that he was there the whole lesson... that was probably a bad story to share.
27. Tried to organise my desk
28. Told Walter that I had been called to the SGC
29. Remembered that each student now comes with an ipod, phone and (sometimes) laptop. Remembered how much I HATE that.
30. Played a game of scattegories with a senior class because it was the only way to get them to sit down.
31. Arranged a Nerdfighter badge making venture with a kid
32. Discussed the merits of various gaming platforms
33. Listened to a kid try to convince me that his imaginary dying grandmother would disown him if he did classwork
34. Helped a kid research international law cases
35. Discussed the lack of respect I have for Princess Peach
36. Went to a staff meeting
37. Attended a house rally/meeting for one that wasn't my own
38. Lost four pens and 'acquired' one.
