1. The dusty smell of a really old book
2. The even better dusty smell of a second hand bookstore
3. Crisp black letters on white paper
4. The bleeding stamp of letter on more fibrous paper
5. Really worn jackets of well-read paperbacks
6. Beautiful dust jackets
7. The texture of linen covers under finger tips
8. Being able to find the page I'm up to by resting the spine flat and letting the pages open themselves
9. The way I can have a whole word of commonalities with a person of any age, gender, language, nationality - all through the love of one story
10. Their undeniable aesthetic value
11. How wonderful - and how sad - it feels to get to the bottom of a pile
12. Falling into an entirely new universe, without leaving the comfort of your home
13. How nice it is to sit curled up with a good book, a blanket, and a cup of tea when it's raining outside

29. The complete excitement when a new book you have been waiting and waiting for finally comes out
