Guidelines for Happy Listing (and yes, it's a list)
- We will create a list every day with the number of items matching the number of the day. For example: Day 1's list will have 1 item, Day 366 's will have 366 items.
- Each day's list must be completed (but not posted) before midnight of our respective timezones.
- List topics are unrestricted and of our own design. List inspiration and appropriation is permitted. Items are not allowed to appear twice on the same list.
- Though we may not research our topic, we may ask for assistance. Research is allowed when providing context (links ect). Context should be brief and provided after the completed list.
- Once a fortnight we shall complete a mutual list, the topic of which shall be provided by you.

{Day 30: Rebecca} Things I think about in the middle of the night
1. I reeeeally hope this isn't the start of another bout of insomnia.
2. If I go to sleep right ...now I'll get [x] hours sleep
3. Oops. I forgot to do my list for today...
4. I wonder how insomnia fares at the B&B? All those people user one roof.
5. I bet HG gets some major insomnia... wow shouldn't put that on the list cause then I'll have to write it.
6. I should write more on Court's prompt... I'm liking it. And surprising myself with the presence of plot.
7. It would be really good to get some work tomorrow... But would also be really nice to stay in pjs... And get actual sleep.
8. I hate this blogger app on my phone it's stupid
9. Blogger is a funny word. Blooooger.
10. Man I need sleep
11. Oh geez remember that story you read once where people never ever slept and they all turned into homicidal, cannibalistic lunatics and then people shoved them all onto this one island to eat each other like non-spacey Reavers? That was scary *shudders*
12. Reavers, likewise, are scary
13. I wonder how long I could keep this stream of consciousness thing going for? I bet my fingers would fall off from tying before my addled brain stopped throwing our rubbish.
14. The light on my tv is bright red so there's this one big scary cylon eye staring at me from the darkness of u room.
15. I've turned on my star projector to negate the scariness of my cylon tv. It is rather soothing.
16. I wonder what it would be like to have a cylon tv... Think it would make you watch the cooking forever? Cause you know, cylon? Toaster? LEAVER ALONE I'M TIRED!
17. I wonder what it would be like to look out your window and ACTUALLY see the stars?
18. I should go camping again before the weather turns. Go see the stars away from the lights.
19. I like stars. They're pretty.
20. Am now wondering if Lisa has read "Stardust" by Neil Gaiman
21. Am now thinking about how much better the "Stardust" book is than the movie.
22. Now considering the awesomeness that is Neil Gaiman.
22. Hi Scraps
23. No Scraps, no, don't lie on me, it's like a bajillion degrees. Go visit Lisa and the fluffballs and stay till there is snow to bring home
24. Now thinking about how cool it would be to have a messenger cat that would do your bidding.
25. Now thinking about the messenger birds in Dinotopia.
26. Thinking about he time James Gurney left a comment on my review of the book and how I ran through the house squealing like a little kid
27. Ruminating on how much I ADORE Dinotopia and how much I wanted I live there as a kid (okay still), specifically in tree town.
28. Considering my love of tree houses and the idea of being stranded on a far off island
29. Blaming this weird desire on too many childhood readings of Dinotopia and Swiss Family Robinson.
30. Thinking about how doing this list has jus made me more awake. Gah.

Lisa Says...
Rebecca Says...
- Dressed up as Laura Ingalls for Halloween multiple years in a row
- Wandered around a forest outside Vancouver pretending to be a member of SG1
- Ate at the diner they used to film a couple episodes of SG1
- Charted and knit the Sanctuary logo
- Participated in science competitions
- Discovered the internet
- Made Stargate cupcakes
- Turned my life into excel graph/chart porn
- Beaded Magnus' face
- Spent an entire 4th of July weekend playing the Buffy video game (I even missed the fireworks)
- Played the Meow Mix song in concert band (...in 4th grade)
- Watched Requiem five times in a row before I was ordered to turn it off
- Pasted "Everything I Know in Life I Learned from Sarah MacKensie" to my dorm room closet
- Anything that starts with Becca saying something like "you know what we should do" or "you're going to say no but"
- TiVo'd every episode of Stargate I could find and spent two days watching them all instead of going to theme parks in Cali.
Rebecca Says...
- Well... this project would have to be pretty high up on the list
- The time I went camping in my backyard
- The fact that when I went camping in my backyard I bought my lightsaber instead of a torch
- The time I drove to Canberra to visit Lisa simply because Canberra is closer than Melbourne
- That time I joined a LJ community and let some weird person convince me to try out this 'twitter thing'
- Starting a comic dedicated to geekiness
- Purchasing steam punk googles to be my 'Claudia goggles' while watching WH13
- Entering (and placing, thank you very much) a karaoke competition with my sign language group
- Having a lecturer correctly interpret the look on my face as discomfort when someone beat me to my regular seat in the lecture hall - resulting in him asking them to move before my head exploded.
- Auditioning for The Sound of Music despite my complete lack of acting ability simply because it's my favourite musical and there was no way I was passing that up.
- Decided to track my online reading for 2012 (to date I have read 621, 766 words, or approximately 2, 072 pages of a paperback novel)
- Absolutely anything involving Lisa, Lisa, Courtney, Sez, Lauren, Sarah... okay all of you guys
- Anything that made it's way onto tumblr
- Being known for being the girl who knitted in the uni bar
- Bought a pair of shoes just because the design style was called 'Hepburn'
- Sewed the right SG1 patches onto a hoodie and wore it everywhere just to get the rare thumbs up from a stranger across the street
- Took a photo every day for a year
- Having kept details statistics and records of my reading since 2007
- Hosted an international Disney sleepover
- Spent over an hour trying on glasses trying to find a Roslin pair (was not successful)
- Named my electronical devices (computer, ipad, phone etc) after scifi characters
- After having bought way too many badges online, set up own badge store specialising in nerdity
- Wrote an paper (worth 40% of my final grade) outlining Captain Picard's representation of masculinity and his fulfillment of the Oedipal complex (nerdy yes, but I did so revel in that HD)
- Having the one thing on my schoolies to-do list be 'go to breakfast in my pjs' and when there wasn't anywhere close to do so having a kind friend drive me to the supermarket to buy cereal in pjs
- Lisa and I belting out showtunes and then deciding to call Courtney and sing them to her
- Making Wizard of Oz gingerbread cookies and then not being able to eat them cause it made me sad
- The conversation in my head between Magnus and Janeway EVERY SINGLE TIME I have either a cup of tea or coffee
- Basically every single day of my life cause I know there are a ton more things I could add to my list.

{Day 26: Rebecca} Characters I would invite to my cracktastic tea party
- Helen Magnus - Come on. It’s a tea party, how can you NOT invite Helen Magnus to a tea party? She’d be all happy... cause everyone will be British... and... there’s be tea and stuff. [Sanctuary]
- Kathryn Janeway – Cause I am incapable of thinking of Helen Magnus and her tea without my brain immediately jumping to Kathryn Janeway and her coffee. They are like my little beverage angel/devil duo. [Star Trek: Voyager]
- Helena G. Wells - Cause I think it would be funny to watch HG be all flirty flirty with all the guests and discussing the appropriate way to steep tea with Magnus, while all the while plying Myka with tea in shiny cups (which she would slip the forbidden sugar in to hype her up) [Warehouse 13]
- Myka Berring – See above. My head is crazy but happy. [Warehouse 13]
- Jack O’Neill – Cause think about it, Jack with itty bitty cups, trying to behave himself? Funny. [Stargate SG1]
- Sam Carter – Cause she should be there to witness the Jack-floundering and any situation that has an excess of Amanda-face is good (plus I think that would be a strangely entertaining meeting) [Stargate SG1]
- Alice – Cause... well cause it’s a TEA PARTY. [Alice in Wonderland]
- Codex – Cause I think forcing her out of the house at any time is funny, but to shove her into a situation where she has to make small take is just asking for hilarity [The Guild]
- Laura Roslin – Cause she’s Laura Roslin. [Battlestar Galactica]
- Delenn – Cause she’d bring some cool Minbari tea and hold a nice tea ceremony for us [Babylon 5]
- Sheldon Cooper – Cause it would be FUNNY [Big Bang Theory]
- Q – Can you imagine the crazy antics he would snap into that tea party? [Star Trek]
- CJ Cregg – Cause there should be someone there who knows how to talk to people [The West Wing]
- Brenda Leigh Johnson – Cause she would eat all the sweets. [The Closer]
- Susan Ivonova – Cause we can always use more snark [Babylon 5]
- Darth Vader – Cause: “Please pass *kshoooo* the sugar *kshoooo*” [Star Wars]
- Courtney – Cause... oh, not that kind of ‘character’? Okay, sorry. [The Frank and Herman Hour]
- Elphaba Thropp – Cause she got ripped up and deserves some pampering. After all, it’s not easy being green. [Wicked]
- River Tam – Cause any party is more fun with River. [Firefly]
- Henry Foss – Cause now because of Lauren I always see him drinking tea from a Superman mug [Sanctuary]
- Lorelai Gilmore – and... [Gilmore Girls]
- Luke Danes - ... Cause I think the pair of them should get in on the coffee/tea debate [Gilmore Girls]
- Minerva McGonagall – Cause she’s awesome and we don’t get to see enough of her. She can come and keep everyone in line. [Harry Potter]
- Thor – Cause I want to see Sam and Jack explain Thor to the wide range of people around the table [Stargate SG1]
- Vala Mal Doran – Cause I’d love to see her pick pocket from all the above [Stargate SG1]
- All of us – Cause it’s my tea party and I make the rules [My Crazy Life]

{Day 25: Rebecca} 25 signs that you live with a crafter
- There is wool in the bookcase
- There are scraps of yarn or glass beads caught in the lint collector
- You stab yourself with sewing needles that have been dropped on the carpet
- You stab yourself with knitting needles that have been left on the lounge
- Mugs (any and every mug) have been hijacked for storage purposes and mugs full of pens, scissors an crocheting hooks are now dotted throughout your house
- Cotton thread on the floor
- You walk in on them caressing wool
- Indecipherable codes scribbled on the back of envelopes that turn up everywhere
- All coffee jars and containers of any kind are pilfered from the recycling to be upcycled
- You are screamed at if you touch the wrong scissors (even if they all look the same and are in fact yours)
- No clothing is safe ever as even the oldest of fabrics can be repurposed
- Speaking of clothing there are a stack of repairs on a chair somewhere which probably only need a button sewn back on but they haven’t been touched yet cause the crafter in question is too busy knitting a vintage baby shawl
- You no longer notice when you’re stabbed in the ribs with knitting needles
- You walk outside to find them sitting on the lawn taking photos of fabric
- They hijack your ipad to store knitting patterns
- You learn (quickly) that small unassuming items like pens, rulers, and scissors are prized possessions and should not be touched or moved. Ever.
- They insist that they’re ‘moulding polymer clay’ not ‘playing with playdo
- You can’t sit an watch a movie without your body being used as a ruler/airing rack/ wool dispenser
- Every drawer is filled with scrapbook paper
- Your toothbrush and other daily items have been stolen for craft use
- Movies and TV shows are paused and zoomed in on to study knitwear
- You are constantly finding little hole punch circles
- You’ve gotten used to the weird looks you get when you sit next to the knitting freak in the cinema
- You find squishy packages in the post with cutesy sheep logos
- The hum and rattle of the sewing machine has become the soundtrack to your homelife

{Day 24: Rebecca} Awesome things about house sitting
- How quiet the house was.
- How I ordered pizza for dinner and got the one that no one else likes (Vegetarian, extra olives).
- How, because I was the only one there I had leftover pizza AND it was still there when I went to have it for dinner the next night
- Snuggly kitties with only me to give them cuddles
- How their house key is a Tesa brand, which made me think of Tesla, which made me nerd happy
- That their TV is bigger than my bed. (okay maybe not quite, but still it’s pretty big)
- Opening a drink, putting it back in the fridge, and having it still be there when I came back
- Watching my TV show in the lounge room
- Being allowed to sit on the lounge
- How when I needed a ruler I opened my friends desk drawer to grab one and there were eleven rulers just sitting there right on top. ELEVEN. Now either Wendy has a ruler obsession that she hasn’t told anyone about or her study is actually the Room of Requirement but either way I was majorly impressed. I’m hard pressed to find ONE ruler in my drawer.
- Waking up in the middle of the night to find that I was wearing a cat as a hat.
- Speaking of cats: their crazy acrobatic cats who run and jump and hurdle and catapult. (hehe cat-apult)
- Their weird double screened computer. I used Wendy’s computer to reply to some email and she has two monitors set up that make one big screen. It’s very cool.
- All the inappropriate jokes I made about wild parties before they left
- How their dvd player is a laptop attached to the tv and you have to use a mouse to work it.
- Sitting on the steps patting a dog who is happy to see you (I love that it doesn’t matter who you are, dogs are always happy to see you)
- Their cool see through sink.
- How, having left the pizza box on the bench so I could throw it out, I then had to coax a sleeping cat off it. It just gave me a ‘hey man, you had the pizza, I have the box, now scoot’ kind of look and just rolled back over and went back to sleep.

{Day 19: Lisa} A (Semi Non Sarcastic) List of Ways to Get More Organized
- Stop buying stuff you don’t have room for.
- Get rid of stuff you don’t have room for.
- Remove the foam stuffing from your couch cushions and replace with yarn or off season clothing.
- Scan all your papers into your computer and recycle the hard copies (unless you’re Helen Magnus).
- Adhere all your film prints on your walls with tape or sticky stuff (who needs wallpaper)
- Add shelves to any unused walls.
- Color code everything.
- Arrange things by shapes.
- Arrange things by size.
- Pretend there’s a miniature alien/abnormal/animal in *insert room of choice* clean it until the missing creature is located.
- Label everything. Label makers, chalkboard paint and sharpies are fun.
- Stick things in boxes, bins, jars by different categories depending on which shelf/room they’re located on/in.
- Organize your books by dewey decimal number.
- Find Robin Dunne, give him a broom and ask him to direct a film in your house.
- Dump everything on the floor/counter/chair and then put it all back.
- Throw a party (your house will magically organize itself while you’re looking for that cake pan you haven’t used since last year).
- Convert your consciousness to binary. Everything’s more organized on a computer.
- Have me come over and deprive me of all sources of entertainment. I’ll be cleaning out your fridge in a day or two.
- Find yourself a huge project with an non-negotiable deadline like a thesis. Watch as you turn into a cleaning/organizing machine.
{Day 19: Rebecca} Things I love about my favourite cafe
- It's name: Jazz Apple
- It's location: the mountains

- It's furniture: all mismatched.
- It's cups: again, all mismatched, but I always manage to get the red shiny mug for my coffee
- It's artwork: all so pretty and always changing
- It's eggs: they poach them the good way so they're like a little runny egg ball
- It's music: softly playing or live music.
- It's coffee: sooooo good.
- It's toast: white, brown, sourdough, wholemeal, turkish - all cut nice and thick
- It's menu: nice and varied, with a huge range of gluten free items so I can take all my friends
- It's patrons: such a range of people! And all so friendly
- It's postcards: all over the walls from travelling staff
- It's proximity: a short ten minutes from my house!
- It's hot chocolate: oh my goodness, so good.
- It's local support: it sells local artwork and craft - all very lovely things
- It's signage: lots of brochures and flyers for local events and such
- It's breakfast: all day breakast! I'll love anywhere that will give me an all day breakfast
- It's pace: okay so it's slow, really slow, but I love the chance this gives me to relax and have a lazy brunch

- I cut the top of chip bags off as I eat through it, so it's easier to reach the bottom.
- I'll check one boot for bugs but hardly ever check the second one.
- I put salt and pepper on my popcorn.

- Guaranteed pick me ups include knitting, the requiem commentary, amanda, nail file/clippers or scissors.
- I sleep with flannel sheets on my bed at least 10 months out of the year because I love the way they feel.

- I love watching people work with their hand.
- I clean when I'm stressed.
- I tend to use glass jars as cups, mugs as bowls, and bowls as plates.

- I wanted to be a nun in high school for about a year.
- When I get really excited/happy about something (particularly food) I literally bounce/jump around.
- I have drunk goggles set on my email so that when I’m really tired I can’t send stupid/incomplete/incoherent emails to people.

{Day 14: Lisa} Reasons Becca is the Awesomest (the Abbreviated Version)
Stealing this because I needed a list and because she really is the awesomest…
- She insists on arguing over who is more awesome, even though we all know she is
- She’s a book!nerd
- She answers to “Dork”
- She loves yarn and wool and yarn things (aka knitting)
- She’s perpetually torn between coffee and tea (Janeway and Magnus should just duke it out and save her the trouble)
- Comment spam
- She indulges me in my insanity
- She hardly ever lets me win an argument
- We’re planning on retiring to an asylum so we can fangirl full time
- She gets up and pops online when I’m supposed to be making/eating dinner (who needs alarms when you’ve a Becca?)
- Squirrels and Kitties
- The fact she lets me keep her up to insane hours
- Her insane if misguided love for snow
- The way she always makes me smile
{Day 14: Rebecca} Favorite websites and blogs (with no particular order or theme)
- Attic24: The first craft blog my friend Wendy and cousin Renae ever followed together. Much shinyness on her blog which has prompted many conversations between the three of us (“Oh! Have you seen the latest Attic24 ta-dah??” ... “We HAVE to get this wool. It’s so Lucy!”)
- Delicious: aka my fanfic tbr manager!
- One Crafty Mumma: a beautiful craft/family blog maintained by Melissa (who is also on twitter). Melissa is lovely and her blog has fun projects and (at the moment) lots of caravanny goodness)
- Tumblr: Well come on! I had to say tumblr!
- Ravelry: Home of the knitty goodness
- Extra Ordinary: a very cute comic which I relate to far too easily. Very quirky.
- Yarn Harlot: If you only ever read one craft blog, it’s got to be the Yarn Harlot, right? Absolutely hilarious. Hilarious beyond hilarious. I’ve been reading her blog for years now (in fact I think it was the first blog I ever subscribed to). Must see.
- IMDB: Necessary for tv nerds
- Hello, Friend: Wonderful vintagey blog with lots of photos and links to good crafty things. Heavy on etsy and flickr sourcing, which I like.
- Lisa’s blog: It’s where the shiny fic lives.
- Google Reader: Part of my daily online arsenal
- Friends With Boys: another comic I love, YA with supernatural themes. As a bonus link the artist, Faith Erin Hicks, also does The Adventures of Superhero Girl, which is hilarious.
- Text From Last Night {Sanctuary Style}: Because it cracks me up way more than it should.
- GoodReads: For booky tracking.

- She writes me shiny fic (though not Walter/Carolyn *pout*
- How when she comes online I know I’m up waaaaaay past my bedtime and so I run away really fast before I can talk to her (even though it’s really hard and I want to talk to her) because I know if I don’t there’s no way I will ever go to sleep
- Comment spam
- Her all round shinyness – in craft, music, clothing, everything!
- How she reminds me of Felicia Day in her dorky but awesome ways
