1. I reeeeally hope this isn't the start of another bout of insomnia.
2. If I go to sleep right ...now I'll get [x] hours sleep
3. Oops. I forgot to do my list for today...
4. I wonder how insomnia fares at the B&B? All those people user one roof.
5. I bet HG gets some major insomnia... wow shouldn't put that on the list cause then I'll have to write it.
6. I should write more on Court's prompt... I'm liking it. And surprising myself with the presence of plot.
7. It would be really good to get some work tomorrow... But would also be really nice to stay in pjs... And get actual sleep.
8. I hate this blogger app on my phone it's stupid
9. Blogger is a funny word. Blooooger.
10. Man I need sleep
11. Oh geez remember that story you read once where people never ever slept and they all turned into homicidal, cannibalistic lunatics and then people shoved them all onto this one island to eat each other like non-spacey Reavers? That was scary *shudders*
12. Reavers, likewise, are scary
13. I wonder how long I could keep this stream of consciousness thing going for? I bet my fingers would fall off from tying before my addled brain stopped throwing our rubbish.
14. The light on my tv is bright red so there's this one big scary cylon eye staring at me from the darkness of u room.
15. I've turned on my star projector to negate the scariness of my cylon tv. It is rather soothing.
16. I wonder what it would be like to have a cylon tv... Think it would make you watch the cooking forever? Cause you know, cylon? Toaster? LEAVER ALONE I'M TIRED!
17. I wonder what it would be like to look out your window and ACTUALLY see the stars?
18. I should go camping again before the weather turns. Go see the stars away from the lights.
19. I like stars. They're pretty.
20. Am now wondering if Lisa has read "Stardust" by Neil Gaiman
21. Am now thinking about how much better the "Stardust" book is than the movie.
22. Now considering the awesomeness that is Neil Gaiman.
22. Hi Scraps
23. No Scraps, no, don't lie on me, it's like a bajillion degrees. Go visit Lisa and the fluffballs and stay till there is snow to bring home
24. Now thinking about how cool it would be to have a messenger cat that would do your bidding.
25. Now thinking about the messenger birds in Dinotopia.
26. Thinking about he time James Gurney left a comment on my review of the book and how I ran through the house squealing like a little kid
27. Ruminating on how much I ADORE Dinotopia and how much I wanted I live there as a kid (okay still), specifically in tree town.
28. Considering my love of tree houses and the idea of being stranded on a far off island
29. Blaming this weird desire on too many childhood readings of Dinotopia and Swiss Family Robinson.
30. Thinking about how doing this list has jus made me more awake. Gah.
Guidelines for Happy Listing (and yes, it's a list)
- We will create a list every day with the number of items matching the number of the day. For example: Day 1's list will have 1 item, Day 366 's will have 366 items.
- Each day's list must be completed (but not posted) before midnight of our respective timezones.
- List topics are unrestricted and of our own design. List inspiration and appropriation is permitted. Items are not allowed to appear twice on the same list.
- Though we may not research our topic, we may ask for assistance. Research is allowed when providing context (links ect). Context should be brief and provided after the completed list.
- Once a fortnight we shall complete a mutual list, the topic of which shall be provided by you.

LOL <333333333 the first part of this is so me in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteI loved the movie this means I really do have to read the book....
Yes give me the kitty! Here kitty! kitty!
Messenger kitties would be awesome or even just cats that do what they're told when they're doing something they're not supposed to do like climbing the furniture or trying to jump out windows.
*g* we're both nuts.
DeleteYES YOU DO. I love Neil Gaiman. Loooooove. And as much as I love his books, it's his short stories that totally have me hooked. It was him who made me love short stories in the first place.
I shall mail kitty to you.
Yeeeeaah. not gonna happen.
I don't like short stories. I actually prefer poetry. Short stories I feel like at least a lot of the more contemporary ones that I've read lack either character development or some sort of emotional something. I like things that make me feel or make me think. Outside of naturey themed stories I haven't found that much. Granted it's not like I scoured the earth looking.
DeleteWOOT KITTY!!
Yeah I know, but would be awesome.
I can understand what you're saying - I certainly don't love ALL short stories, but certain authors (Neil Gaiman, Margo Lanagan...) are gold. When it comes to them I'm prepared to give up extended character development for concepts and situations that completely floor me and make me think. There have been short stories I've read that have transfixed me and haunted me for months.
DeleteSo clearly picking up a copy of 'America's Best' is a bad bad idea. Off the top of my head, I do have a soft spot for Ann Dillard's short stories, so maybe I should give this another go. I'd certainly have a longer list of things I've read ;)
DeleteWell it's not a bad place to start. NO. Generally speaking I find an author I love, realise they write short stories and then get very excited. Like I said, Neil Gaiman is my favourite short story author, so I always read all he is involved in as either author or editor).
