Guidelines for Happy Listing (and yes, it's a list)
- We will create a list every day with the number of items matching the number of the day. For example: Day 1's list will have 1 item, Day 366 's will have 366 items.
- Each day's list must be completed (but not posted) before midnight of our respective timezones.
- List topics are unrestricted and of our own design. List inspiration and appropriation is permitted. Items are not allowed to appear twice on the same list.
- Though we may not research our topic, we may ask for assistance. Research is allowed when providing context (links ect). Context should be brief and provided after the completed list.
- Once a fortnight we shall complete a mutual list, the topic of which shall be provided by you.

saldfskljfdskljfk this makes me miss my coffeeshop!
ReplyDelete10. Salt rising? Do they even have salt rising in Oz? It's hard enough to find here.
11. \o/ Bring on the food!
SUCCESS! Besides, this is really our cafe (I shall share with you) because 1) You would LOVE it, 2) it always makes me think of you, and 3) I do a large amount of writing here
Delete10. No. What is that??
11. IKR! See, I think of you every time!
\o/\o/\o/ WIN
Delete10. It's like sourdough in that it rises without the addition of baker's yeast, but instead of water and flour being used to make the starter you add a whole bunch of salt to the mix. It makes amazing bread. I ate myself silly on the stuff in undergrad and now I MISS IT!!! Not that I could eat it anyway, but on principle...
Wikipedia says "The exact origin of this bread is unknown, but evidence suggests that it was well-known throughout Scotland and Ireland during the mid- to late-17th century. Currently, the tradition is kept alive by relatively few individuals and bakeries that tend to be clustered in the mid to eastern United States. It is particularly popular in Western New York."
10. Potentially silly question - does it taste salty?
DeleteAnd now I want some thanks a lot sheesh.
That's not a silly question. No it doesn't. Not to me. I mean I suppose it might a bit to some people but not a lot.
DeleteHuh. False advertising. I wanted salty bread.
