Guidelines for Happy Listing (and yes, it's a list)

  1. We will create a list every day with the number of items matching the number of the day. For example: Day 1's list will have 1 item, Day 366 's will have 366 items.
  2. Each day's list must be completed (but not posted) before midnight of our respective timezones.
  3. List topics are unrestricted and of our own design. List inspiration and appropriation is permitted. Items are not allowed to appear twice on the same list.
  4. Though we may not research our topic, we may ask for assistance. Research is allowed when providing context (links ect). Context should be brief and provided after the completed list.
  5. Once a fortnight we shall complete a mutual list, the topic of which shall be provided by you.

{Day 28: Lisa & Rebecca} The geekiest things I've ever done

Lisa Says...

  1. Dressed up as Laura Ingalls for Halloween multiple years in a row
  2. Wandered around a forest outside Vancouver pretending to be a member of SG1
  3. Ate at the diner they used to film a couple episodes of SG1
  4. Charted and knit the Sanctuary logo
  5. Participated in science competitions
  6. Discovered the internet
  7. Made Stargate cupcakes
  8. Turned my life into excel graph/chart porn
  9. Beaded Magnus' face
  10. Spent an entire 4th of July weekend playing the Buffy video game (I even missed the fireworks)
  11. Played the Meow Mix song in concert band (...in 4th grade)
  12. Watched Requiem five times in a row before I was ordered to turn it off
  13. Pasted "Everything I Know in Life I Learned from Sarah MacKensie" to my dorm room closet
  14. Anything that starts with Becca saying something like "you know what we should do" or "you're going to say no but"
  15. TiVo'd every episode of Stargate I could find and spent two days watching them all instead of going to theme parks in Cali.

Rebecca Says...
  1. Well... this project would have to be pretty high up on the list
  2. The time I went camping in my backyard
  3. The fact that when I went camping in my backyard I bought my lightsaber instead of a torch
  4. The time I drove to Canberra to visit Lisa simply because Canberra is closer than Melbourne
  5. That time I joined a LJ community and let some weird person convince me to try out this 'twitter thing'
  6. Starting a comic dedicated to geekiness
  7. Purchasing steam punk googles to be my 'Claudia goggles' while watching WH13
  8. Entering (and placing, thank you very much) a karaoke competition with my sign language group
  9. Having a lecturer correctly interpret the look on my face as discomfort when someone beat me to my regular seat in the lecture hall - resulting in him asking them to move before my head exploded.
  10. Auditioning for The Sound of Music despite my complete lack of acting ability simply because it's my favourite musical and there was no way I was passing that up.
  11. Decided to track my online reading for 2012 (to date I have read 621, 766 words, or approximately 2, 072 pages of a paperback novel)
  12. Absolutely anything involving Lisa, Lisa, Courtney, Sez, Lauren, Sarah... okay all of you guys
  13. Anything that made it's way onto tumblr
  14. Being known for being the girl who knitted in the uni bar
  15. Bought a pair of shoes just because the design style was called 'Hepburn'
  16. Sewed the right SG1 patches onto a hoodie and wore it everywhere just to get the rare thumbs up from a stranger across the street
  17. Took a photo every day for a year
  18. Having kept details statistics and records of my reading since 2007
  19. Hosted an international Disney sleepover
  20. Spent over an hour trying on glasses trying to find a Roslin pair (was not successful)
  21. Named my electronical devices (computer, ipad, phone etc) after scifi characters
  22. After having bought way too many badges online, set up own badge store specialising in nerdity
  23. Wrote an paper (worth 40% of my final grade) outlining Captain Picard's representation of masculinity and his fulfillment of the Oedipal complex (nerdy yes, but I did so revel in that HD)
  24. Having the one thing on my schoolies to-do list be 'go to breakfast in my pjs' and when there wasn't anywhere close to do so having a kind friend drive me to the supermarket to buy cereal in pjs
  25. Lisa and I belting out showtunes and then deciding to call Courtney and sing them to her
  26. Making Wizard of Oz gingerbread cookies and then not being able to eat them cause it made me sad
  27. The conversation in my head between Magnus and Janeway EVERY SINGLE TIME I have either a cup of tea or coffee
  28. Basically every single day of my life cause I know there are a ton more things I could add to my list.

    1. You know this is part of why you are AWESOME, right?

    2. Oh yes, I've done this :D well... not the Vancouver part, but still. I also may have put the sg soundtrack on my ipod while doing this so I had the appropriate background music happening ;)

    3. Uh, this is AWESOME!

    4. *grin* dude this is the best list

    5. never done this :( have done a writing comp (ooh went to writer's camp! Should have put that on my list), and an art comp, but not a science one.

    6. This. lol.

    7. *g* I made bsg ones last week

    8. BWUAHAH true.

    9. Duuuude. Show.

    10. LOL!

      1. LOL yes. You do know how obsessed I was.

      2. WIN!

      4. Remind me to send you a copy. I meant to and then my hard drive died.

      5. It was so much fun. I never ended up placing high enough to get a ribbon but I did come in 3rd in an accounting competition.

      9. Remind me next time I go home. I don't have it with me.

      11. It's from a commercial. For cat food. They used to play it all the time on TV. Be glad you didn't have to grow up listening to it.

      15. It was when I was first getting into stargate. So um yeah.

OMG I forgot band summer programs. Like day camp...for band. That's so geektastic.

      2. *g* such nerdery
      4. will do :)
      5. Dude seriously? That is just... weirdly awesome.
      9. again, will do :)
      11. I am very glad.

      1. At least read the first two. They're my favs. I think the series is more an American thing and a book nerdy one at that. Most people know what it is but haven't read it or know because their parents watched the show growing up.
      5. Yeah I got a trophy for the accounting competition. It even has a gold star!
      15. I almost did that in 2010 during the fangirl summer. It wouldn't have fit in my suitcase though... turned out for the best even if all 10 seasons would've been like $85 USD

      1. The show is really nothing like the books. The books are so much better.

      5. I love things for reasons is the greatest thing ever. Makes my fangirl happy

      15. It would've been over the weight limit too *pouts* I need Hermione's bag, I'm telling you.

      3. So I've been told :)
      5. Is exactly how it happened. She was all "Hi I'm Lili, hope you don't mind I'm stalking you. Come play on twitter, it will eat your life." ... okay that last part might not be accurate.
      7. I have been having fun :D
      9. I WAS. It was a freak anomaly.

      14. Agreed. My friends and I are rather fond of pub dinners. We have an Irish pub (O'Donoghue's) in the next town over which is lovely, and another one (The Log Cabin) at which a friend is the chef - free chips for the table :)
